Nancy Wynn invited to show at “Hartford DADA” Exhibition and as panelist on the Colin McEnroe Show

Nancy Wynn has been invited to show her piece I Pledge Allegiance in an exhibition called Hartford DADA at the Pumphouse Gallery in Hartford September 26 – November 1. The opening is Thursday, September 26 from 5:00–9:00 pm. Information on the gallery is at this link.

The piece was created in 2004, and still is, a reaction to war and the nature of security (or lack thereof in reference to gun violence). It questions the concept of allegiance and our system of “Homeland” Security.

Ms. Wynn was invited to be a panelist on the Colin McEnroe Show, Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 on WNPR in Hartford, CT. The discussion was centered on DADA Art. Panelists included: Andrei Codrescu, Jonathon Keats, Jeff Poole, Clinton Deckart, and Nancy Wynn This link will take you to the radio show, at the bottom you can listen to the hour long show.

John O’Donnell’s Fall Exhibition Schedule

John O’Donnell’s solo exhibition, Ponzi Structure, at Real Art Ways in Hartford has been extended until September 29. Mr. O’Donnell will be attending RAW’s Creative Cocktail Hour September 19, from 6:00–10:00pm. If you want see the show and hang out, let Mr. O’Donnell know via email or Facebook and he will put your name on the list, so you don’t have to pay entry. Mr. O’Donnell will have performance and installation at a Hartford event called PARK(ing) Day. This event takes place across the globe on September 20, 2013 in urban centers to transform parking spaces into temporary “parks.” Feel free to read more at this link.

Mr. O’Donnell has been invited to show a few drawings of dinosaurs in an exhibition called Hartford DADA at the Pumphouse Gallery in Hartford September 26 – November 1. The opening is Thursday, September 26 from 5:00–9:00 pm. Information on the gallery is at this link.

New Prints 2013/Autumn, at the International Print Center in New York (IPCNY), will run from October 29 – November 30, 2013. The opening is on Thursday, November 7. Mr. O’Donnell exhibited there a few years ago and he is excited to return. More information can be found at this link.

Lastly, a large-scale watercolor of of Mr. O’Donnell’s will be included in an exhibition called Habitat, curated by Susan Classen-Sullivan at Hans Weiss Newspace Gallery, Manchester Community College, Manchester, CT. The exhibition runs from October 24 – December 4. “Ink & Ink” reception on Saturday at LQM Gallery in New London

INK & INK is LQM Gallery’s newest exhibition featuring four Chinese artists taking part in the ICAS (International Contemporary Art Space) International Residency program. Masters of the traditional art form of Chinese Ink Painting, each has their own beautiful and distinctive style. From loose and free flowing strokes to technical and elegant fine line work, the paintings express the interests and passion each of these incredible artists have for their work

Tom Hebért’s “Trashing Skies” Exhibition

Opening September 20th, 2013, is the exhibition Trashing Skies series 2010–2012 at the Deluca Gallery in Provincetown, MA. This exhibition includes large scale mixed media constructed paintings by Tom Hebért of Connecticut. “Lyrical. LUSCIOUS” exhibition opens August 10th at LQM Gallery in New London

New Bedford Harbor in a New Light

Cynthia Guild’s oil paintings are featured in a juried exhibition entitled, New Bedford Harbor in a New Light in New Bedford, MA. Artists were invited to create new work centered around a theme related to the harbor and the fishing industry for a multi-media, open-response art exhibition. This exhibition runs from May 21–August 22, 2013 at the New Bedford Art Museum, the University Art Gallery and 244 Gallery at the Star Shore. Miller’s Landscapes in Plein Air at ArtSpace Gallery

ArtSpace Gallery is exhibiting Muriel Miller’s Landscapes in Plein Air from September 6-28, 2013. The Opening Reception is Friday, September 6, 2013 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Gallery hours will be Saturdays, September 7, 14, 21, and 28 1 to 4 pm. You can find the gallery at 480 Main Street, Willimantic, Connecticut.

Miller’s paintings are plein air (directly on site), which reflect her emotional and artistic response to a scene that stimulates her imagination. Miller does not render photographic images of the scene but tries to capture her feelings, light and colors that she sees in the ever changing moment to capture a sense of place. Many of her paintings were done while teaching students in Art Location Studies Abroad in England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Australia.

Muriel Miller is an adjunct professor Art at Eastern Connecticut State University, Central Connecticut State University, and Paier College of Art.

“Faces of Haiti” exhibition opens at the Clare Gallery in Hartford

The Clare Gallery’s exhibition is free and open to the public and extends from August 11–October 17, 2013.
 A reception will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 5:00–7:30 p.m. At the reception, Coyle will invite her friend, photographer Kyn Tolson, to discuss both of their “processes of documentation.” Additionally, Tolson’s work for the organization Outreach to Haiti and the plight of the Haitian people will be discussed.

The Clare Gallery is housed in the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry at 285 Church Street. The Center is part of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Church, a vibrant and active downtown faith community. Free parking is available directly across from the church, and the facility is handicapped accessible. Professor Nancy Wynn curated this exhibition for the Clare Gallery in Hartford, Connecticut. She is also Assistant Professor of Digital Art and Design.
