Eastern Connecticut State University has been honored with numerous awards acknowledging its leadership and sustainability accomplishments





Princeton Review Green Campus Recognition
Received by Eastern in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.





ENERGY STAR™ Partner of the Year Award
Received by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in 2004 and 2014 for Excellence in Energy Education and its efforts to promote energy efficiency and sustainability practices.







Power of Change Award
Received in 2014 by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in the State Difference Maker category for their work in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in Connecticut. Received again by Eastern in 2013 in the Fast Track category for the installation of an Encelium Energy Control System in the J. Eugene Smith Library.





Green Building Advocate of the Year Award
Received by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in 2013 from the Connecticut Green Building Council (CTGBC) for collaborations with the State Departments of Education, Energy & Environmental Protection, Public Health, Construction Services, as well as with the CTGBC itself.





Best of Green Schools Award for Collaboration
Received by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in 2013 from the U.S. Green Building Council.





American Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Silver Award
Received by Eastern in 2012 through the efforts of the Eastern Green Campus Committee.





Workplace Partner of the Year Award
Received by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in 2012 for assistance with obtaining a Department of Labor grant to develop and provide green job training for 600 unemployed citizens of Bridgeport’s 12 most impoverished neighborhoods.





Connecticut Quality Improvement Gold Award
Received by Eastern in 2006 for the development and implementation of “The Greening of Eastern” program through the Institute for Sustainable Energy. Also received by Eastern in 2007 for the Institute for Sustainable Energy’s work in creating a statewide high school energy education program.





Environmental Protection Agency Merit Award—New England Region
Received by the Institute for Sustainable Energy in 2004 for work in promoting energy efficiency in Connecticut.





Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection GreenCircle Award
Received by Eastern Connecticut State University in 2001 and 2005.
