Student Honors and Awards
The Psychology department is proud to announce the following honors, awards, and accomplishments achieved by our majors.
Each year, the department inducts new members into Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.
Each year, the Psi Chi chapter selects students to receive the Rich Bronson Scholarship to assist students with expenses related to the graduate school application process.
Occasionally, psychology students have received other honors and awards.

2014 Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT)
Eric Cerino won this prestigious National Science Foundation scholarship to support the first year of his doctoral studies in the department of LIFE* in an Aging Society program at Oregon State University. (LIFE = Linking Individuals, Families, and Environments) See the story here.
2014 Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award
“Eric Scott Cerino of Stratford is a psychology major and English minor with a 3.91 GPA. His academic achievements have earned him the General Endowment Scholarship of Eastern Competitive Scholarships and the Academic Excellence Scholarship. He was also the Poster Award Winner at Psychology Day 2013. Mr. Cerino is vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, and treasurer of the Psychology Club. He is a research intern for the Alzheimer’s Association in Norwich and designed and implemented an educational program for caregivers and Alzheimer’s patients. Mr. Cerino is also a computer teacher, provides transportation and is a healthcare advocate at the Trumbull Senior Center.”
