Percussion Studies at Eastern Connecticut State University provides the opportunity to explore all facets of percussion performance and education within an individualized studio environment. The curriculum is designed to develop a high level of musicianship and performance and give the student a variety of enriching musical opportunities in a well-rounded total percussion education.
Private studio instruction centers on orchestral and rudimental snare drum, orchestral and solo timpani, and solo and ensemble mallet instruments, as well as the repertoire of multi-percussion, drum set and world percussion. Eastern percussionists enjoy an ever-growing collection of instruments and have the opportunity to participate in guest masterclasses, workshops and concerts such as regular solo percussion performances and performing in the Eastern Percussion Ensemble.
Additionally, Eastern percussionists perform in the large ensembles of the University such as the Eastern Concert Band and Willimantic Orchestra, and given regular opportunities to play with off-campus ensembles such as The Classic Brass and The Concert Choir of Northeastern Connecticut.
