Audition Process

All applicants wishing to enroll as a Music Major at Eastern should complete the following:

  1. Apply to the Office of Admissions at Eastern Connecticut State University.  Fulfill all general admissions guidelines as outlined here by the Office of Admissions.
  2. Once you are a fully admitted student (with acceptance letter in hand), please complete the Audition Request Form.
  3. Complete a performance hearing and in-person interview with members of the Music Program faculty:
    Performance Hearing:
Please come prepared with two selections or movements in contrasting styles. Although there is no assigned repertoire list, please choose selections that demonstrate your ability to accurately perform basic fundamentals associated with one’s instrument or voice such as clear and focused tone quality, an understanding of the interpretation of musical line, accurate rhythm and good intonation. If you are unsure of your abilities or uncertain about how to correctly prepare, please contact us at for guidance and assistance. We would be happy to help!
    Informational Interview:
Each individual will have a chance to speak with music faculty in their specific field of interest and ask questions about the program and all of the opportunities available to you at Eastern. This will also be a time for faculty to get to learn more about your background and area(s) of interest and will help us advise you better.

Transfer Students: Students wishing to transfer into any degree program at Eastern should follow the admission guidelines as stated here. All transfer students seeking to declare a major in music must appear for an in-person interview and audition. If you are unable to make one of the audition dates above or are transferring to Eastern in the spring, please email to set up a meeting with a representative of the program.
