Parents and Families

Parents and Families

As the parent, guardian or family member of an Eastern student we invite you to join us on campus on September 19 for our traditional Family Day festivities.  We always have a huge turnout and it is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your student in a relaxed atmosphere.

There are a number of avenues for Parents to support the University’s liberal arts mission during the academic year.  Here are a few examples:
-    Attend an Arts and Lecture series event
-    Play in the annual Golf Tournament in June at Lake of Isles Golf Course
-    Sponsor a student team in March at the annual Bowlathon
-    Help us to establish an internship or co-op for an Eastern student at your place of employment
-    Assist with Move-in Day
-    Make your annual gift to the Parents Fund and ensure that you receive Eastern magazine all year round!

Parents Fund

What is the Eastern Parents Fund?

The Parents Fund raises annual restricted gifts from parents of current students and parents of graduates that help the university enhance facilities as well as the services provided to students. These initiatives typically impact a broad number of undergraduates on a daily basis.

What does the Parents Fund support?
Over the past decade, proceeds from the Parents Fund have been used to fund a project supporting student needs each year. Those projects have included adding computer kiosks in the Student Center, substantially renovating the Burr Hall basement, adding new scoreboards in the Sports Center, creating a Parents’ Park near the Admissions Building and renovating the World Languages and Cultures Lab.

Who selects the Parents Fund project each year?
Key members of the Student Affairs staff make recommendations on potential projects in the Spring to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Vice President for Student Affairs based on feedback from students and student organizations.

If you are interested in assisting in any of the aforementioned areas or would like more information about Parent and Family initiatives, please contact Pete Dane in the Development Office at 860.465.4513 or

Welcome to Eastern and remember that contribution of time, talent and treasure is needed and will enrich the overall experience for our students.  Go Warriors!
